Description

NI’IHAU SHELL LEI 5 STRAND MAUNALOA KAHELELANI KE’OKE’O, ULA ULA, MAKU’E, OMA”OMA’O, KAMOA POLEHOLE APU’UPU’U 36 INCH LENGTH  (CG112718-05)

Expertly crafted on the island of Ni’ihau Hawaii, this Ni’ihau Shell Lei is truly a work of art.

Each of the five strands is strung in the Maunaloa style, where each shell is nestled seamlessly within the next.
All shells are of the Kamoa (yellow tips from Dove Shells) and Kahelelani (turban shell) varieties. The Kahelelani shells come in the colors of Ke’oke’o (extremely pale pink), Oma’oma’o (green/tan), Ula Ula (red), and Maku’e (brown/burgundy).
The ends of each strand are connected together by a 22mmX15mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell used to conceal string ends) of the Apu’upu’u (bumpy cowrie) variety.
This lei measures approximately 36 inches in length, creating a 18 inch ‘drop length’ when worn.
