Expertly crafted on the island of Ni’ihau Hawai’i, this lei is truly a work of art.
Strung in the Pikake style, each layer of shells interlaces seamlessly with the next.
All shells are of the Momi (Dove shell) variety with Lenalena (slightly yellow/off-white) coloring. The strands are connected by a 19mmX14mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell which ties the ends of each strand together) of the Malina (smooth cowrie) variety with superbly-matched color.
This lei measures approximately 35 inches in length, creating a 19 inch ‘drop length’ when worn.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Ni’ihau shell. The actual percentage of Ni’ihau shell in this item is 100%.
