NI'IHAU SHELL LEI 3 STRAND KIPONA PIKAKE MOMI POLOLEI KAHELELANI POLEHOLEHO APU'UPU'U 33 INCH (HC070122-03)
Hand-crafted on the island of Ni'ihau Hawaii, this unique Lei is truly a work of art.
Strung in the Kipona style, each of the lei's three strands displays a variety of shells and stringing techniques.
Shells are of the Momi (dove shell), and Kahelelani (turban shell) varieties. The Momi shells come in the colors of Kahakaha (deep gold with darker stripes), Onikiniki (white with dark brown stripes), Uli Uli (bluish gray), Ke'oke'o (clean white), and Lenalena (yellow/off-white), while the Kahelelani shells display shades of Kamoa (yellow), Ōma'oma'o (green/tan), Maku'e (brown/burgundy), Ula Ula (red), Akala Ikaika (bright pink), and Akala Pua (pale pink).
Each strand of the lei is connected together by a 18mmX26mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell that conceals the string ends) of the Apu'upu'u (bumpy cowrie shell) variety with a slightly pink undertone.
The lei measures approximately 33 inches long, creating a 16 inch "drop length" when worn.
