Description

NI'IHAU SHELL CHOKER 9 STRAND POLOLEI MOMI LENALENA POLEHOLEHO APU'UPU'U 22 INCH (2637-02)

Expertly crafted on the island of Ni'ihau Hawaii, this lei is truly a work of art.

This piece has nine strands of Momi (dove shells) with Lenalena (cream/off-white) coloration. These shells have been strung together in the Pololei (stacked end-to-end) style with a unique twisting pattern among the strands.
This necklace can be easily secured around the neck with a Hook-and-Eye clasp that has been skillfylly concealed behind a pair of Pōleholeho (decorative shells used to connect then ends of each strand) of the Apu'upu'u (bumpy cowrie) variety.
The choker measures about 22 inches long, creating a 11 inch 'drop-length' when worn.
