Expertly crafted on the island of Ni’ihau Hawai’i, this lei is truly a work of art.

Strung in the Kipona style, this lei features a variety of shells and stringing techniques.
The shells consist of Laiki (rice shells) with a clean Ke’oke’o (white/off-white) color and Kahelelani (turban shells) in shades of Ula Ula (red), Akala Pua (pale pink), Kamoa (yellow/golden), and Maku’e (brown/burgundy).
These shells have been seamlessly connected with Maunaloa (turban shells stacked side-by-side) and Pololei (rice shells strung end-to-end) stringing techniques.
The lei can be easily secured around the neck with a hook-ane-eye closure, which has been skillfully concealed behind a pair of Pōleholeho (decorative shell used to tie-off the ends of each strand) of the smooth ‘money cowrie’ variety.
This lei measures approximately 20 inches in length (from end-to-end when laid flat with the clasp open), creating a 10 inch ‘drop length’ when worn.
The entire piece weighs approximately 39.3g.
