Hand-made on the island of Ni’ihau Hawai’i, this lei is truly a work of art.
Strung in the traditional Roselani style, alternating sections of white and pink shells create a delicate aesthetic reminiscent of mountain roses.
Shells are of the Momi (dove shell) and Kahelelani (turban shell) varieties. The Momi shells have a clean Ke’oke’o Kua Ula (off-white with red-dotted end) coloration while the Kahelelani are a warm Akala Pua (flower pink) hue.
Both strands are connected by a 24X17mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell that conceals the string ends) of the Apu’upu’u (bumpy cowrie shell) variety with a superbly matched color.
This lei measures approximately 36 inches in length, creating an 18 inch ‘drop length’ when worn.
