Expertly crafted on the island of Ni'ihau Hawai'i, this lei is truly a work of art.
Strung in the Kipona style, with alternating sections of Momi (Dove Shells) and Kahelilani (Turban Shells), five strands of shells have been skillfully combined to create a cascade of colors.
The Momi shells are of the following colorations: Ke'oke'o (white/off-white) and Lenalena (yellow).
Kahelelani shells display the colors of: Akala Pua (flower pink), Maku'e (brown/burgundy), Ulaula (red), Oma'oma'o (tan/green), , and Kamoa (yellow).
These strands are connected by a 20x29mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell which ties the ends of each strand together) of the 'āpu'upu'u (bumpy cowrie) variety.
This lei measures approximately 48 inches in length, creating a 24 inch 'drop length' when worn.
