Expertly crafted on the island of Ni’ihau Hawai’i, this necklace is truly a work of art.
Strung in the PoePoe style, the shells interlace to create a consistent spiraling pattern. All shells are of the Kahelelani (Turban shell) variety with alternating lines of Akala (pink) and Oma’oma’o (green) shells. Each end of the strands are finished with a well-matched pair of 25mm Pōleholeho (decorative shell which conceals a hook and eye closure) of the Apu’upu’u (bumpy cowrie) variety.
Typically referred to as a ‘choker’, this necklace measures approximately 21 inches in length and sits higher on the collar than a lei.
